Leslie, I would contact Humanware, and get the techies to talk you through the steps to fix it. Can you get someone to help with this one? I'm sorry it didn't work for you. Maybe someone could ask the questions of the tech while you do the things they want and report the actions the BrailleNote does in response? Will that work?

Leslie, do a simple reset by pressing the reset button
and releasing it. It should bring Keysoft back up and
then put you to your Main Menu, again. Then, try your
email, again.
