That sounds very strange.
I am in the UK but don't subscribe to any papers.
You could try entering "in" into the pronunciation dictionary
telling it just to pronounce "in" as "in".
Oh! that's not going to work if it says "inches" on the Braille
display.
Yes, try it on your PC.

hi,
when reading "the sun" or "the daily telegraph", which i download
from tnauk, if the word "in" is preceded by any word with a comma
after it, the word "in" is spoken, and appears on the braille
display, as "inches".
however, when reading "the guardian" newspaper, this strange
phenomena does not occur.
i'd be interested to hear from any other subscribers in the uk to
this service, as to whether they encounter anything similar.
i suppose the next step would be to download one of these
publications using my pc, to see if the same thing occurs.
