Hi folks, I would like to take this time to once again thank HumanWare (particularly engineers, tech support and other staff involved with this Apex project) who took time to deliver this product. I hope that, just like mPower, we will be able to find potentials and "hacks" that will allow us to use the Apex to our greatest potential.
In light of our discussion about this new product, I would like to offer few comments to recent posts: . Newer product means more advocacy: I personaly view that, if a feature is misdsing or if a hardware design that people want is not ther, we can advocate for it. Personally, even if I want to upgrade to Apex, I cannot - mostly due to cost. Due to cost, coupled with options for shorter cells, I would like to cordially suggest a shorter, even an 16-cell BrailleNote Apex or a VoiceNote equivalent to be available as soon as possible. This has many benefits, including a path towards cheaper upgrade for VoiceNote or mPower 18 cell users (like I am), a cheaper alternative to the full 32-cell model, and a great benefit to educational sector who needs a product with powerful suite of applications, a power OS yet cheap for the districts to get it - in the case of the BT18 model. So, as a blind student in college, I would like to suggest and ask HumanWare if they could investigate releasing VoiceNote models of Apex and/or 18-cell models. . Does new product need to be showered with negative comments: Just because something has just been released does not mean that we know everything about it. Yes, we do know the hardware specs and how it looks like (at least the key and port placement). I believe that what decides a product's fate is the software itself. So, my advice is this: let us worry about how good or bad Apex is when people actually use it, and let us be careful of what we say - there are new users, users of other guys and so forth. Well, that's all I have for today. Hope it made sense. Any comments? Cheers, Joseph P.S. I'll announce a big surprise tonight. ___ Replies to this message will go directly to the sender.
