Hi,
Some easy-to-understand definition for you:
SMTP is short for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, which is used to
send your email to the world.
A port is a channel (like a tunnel or a tube) that computer use
to communicate with each other (at least allow one computer to
access another one).
For Gmail:
* POP: pop.gmail.com
* POP port (with SSL): 995.
* SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
* SMPT port (with SSL): 465; if 465 does not work, try 587.
Hope the explanations were simple for you.
Cheers,
Joseph
