Hi folks,
Well, another compressed response, this time answering few
questions and putting out a thought or two:
* Hi Cynthia - welcome to the list. If you don't mind (if you
haven't done already), could you mind post about your BrailleNote
specs (model, keyboard type, KeySoft version, etc.) so that those
who have your configuration may help you better? Thanks.
* Lost date: In order for HumanWare to verify this bug, a user
needs to give them specific instructions as to how to do it.
With no instructions and randomness, it does fit that HW cannot
dchplicate this (not that HW did not acknowledge it, they don't
have sufficient data to prove the existence of this issue). As
for other suggestions, I just want to ask one question: how long
have you had your BrailleNote, and do you store lots and emails
and documents on your BrailleNote's Flash Disk? If you had your
BrailleNote for a long time, chances are that your Flash Disk is
starting to fail (flash memory can handle limited number of
writes and reads).
* Same page links: The "bookmark" is called same page links. I
did encounter this on Wikipedia - when the contents for an
article is displayed and if you attempt to click on one of the
content items, Apex will give you the message that Zach reported.
* Audio capcha and embedded devices (a thought): This is a known
problem. This happens with any embedded systems that doesn't
support this kind of thing (although the code for it could be
done later). For this kind of task, I strongly recommend using a
computer. Speaking of embedded devices and computers, here's my
thought: embedded systems such as BrailleNote works differently
than a regular PC; for instance, pocket PC's have less memory and
processing power compared to a laptop; also, because of their
nature, smartphones (for which there exists a separate Windows
Mobile version for it) cannot play high definition video or audio
(unlike a PC, which only needs a dedicated graphics or sound
card). In other words, not all features that we want to see on
the BrailleNote can be implemented mostly because of hardware,
operating system and time involved to program such a routine (a
programmer's job is to plan, write, test again and again then
release a program that meets guidebines and specifications). I
could go on about why embedded systems are different than regular
computers and how long it took me to even figure out a logic
problem for one of my programs... But I'll leave it up to more
experienced developers to answer it for you (pforh Flint, Ray,
Alex, Nicole, HW developers or perhaps by myself in the end).
Hope this makes sense to all... Gotta run for school (I have a
logic midterm...).
Cheers,
