Hi listers, I am trying to receive a local NPR station on my Apex that streams fine on my PC. I can stream other public radio stations but not this one. Below I have pasted a reply from KQED about this issue, but I haven't gotten the links they provided to work with the Apex. Just wondering if any of you might have some ideas or can get it to work? Here is there reply. Hi Jim, I'm sorry that didn't work. Per our tech person: Since it's trying to download other players, it's probably a file association problem. Let's see if an asx wrapper works, which would almost surely be associated with the embedded Windows Media Player: http://www.kqed.org/radio/listen/playlist.jsp?f=asx If that doesn't work, then I'd suspect no playlist files are supported at all, and this device only wants to deal with direct links to the stream. The following link may need to be opened from the media player application, though with luck the browser or email client would be able to send it to the correct place. http://kqed-ice.streamguys.org/kqedradio-prtuner We hope one of these works for you, and it'd be useful to hear back which one does, so we can be sure to support the widest possible variety of devices. We've also put in a ticket with our streaming provide, We've, to see if they know of any peculiarities of streaming from WinCE6 or from Braille computers. Jim, please let me know how it goes, and we will continue to troubleshoot if neither of these links work for you. None of them worked on my Apex BrailleNote computer. One problem is that some of your links want to download stuff like winamp or quicktime. Because this small computer uses proprietary software, I am not able to download and install other applications. However, if you have a place where I could just get to a link that might say for example, MP3 streaming at 128K or 64K something like that, then the browser here would take it and it would stream fine. Without that, I don't think I can listen using this small computer. That's ashame especially when so many other stations are accessible as I tried to describe above. I appreciate any other suggestions you might have.
