I don't know how much difference it makes with speed, but, if you have a lot
of maps, I would not recommend putting them directly on the bn. Also, as far
as using the card for other purposes, this may slow down your GPS. If you do
decide to do this, make sure that you have your maps backed up, as a large
amount of reading and writing increases the chance of your card failing.

Yes, the card can be used for anything you want, maps being just one
use. There is nothing special about a card holding maps, since all
they are are files and the gps program looks for them. Therefore you
could put other files and folders on the card. You could even put the
maps right on the apex's flash disk, unless you have a lot on the disk
already and/or have a lot of maps. Remember that there is 8gb built
into the apex already.

Hi Everyone:
I have my Apex 18. I need to purchase an sd card to put the GPS maps. I
am
wondering if I can use the card with the maps for storage as well? I was
thinking of perhaps buying a 16 gig and so that I can put files music and
the maps all in one place.
Is this a good idea? Any suggestions?
Thanks for the input.
Grace
