Hi,
I think a single response to multiple questions would be more
apprropriate than using reply button on every message...
* File type: To select another file type when saving, press
BACKSPACE with X (I forgot the QT command, sorry) until you see
the file type you want.
* WebBraille: The fastest way is to go back by using ENTER with B
(perhaps to select another volume). To help us duplicate your
situation, could you give us some steps you took to arrive at
that location and what you want to do next? Thanks.
* Media Player: I can confirm that you cannot change speech pitch
nor rate in media player - my thinking is mostly because of the
nature of the application at hand.
* New KeySoft (9.1 or whatever it is now): Don't worry - I'm sure
HW will announce something, as some people say that perhaps on
next Monday when HW is scheduled to hold a tech training session.
As for feature sets, I don't know, but based on the words, "...
taking advantage of the features offered by the operating system
..,was I'd say some advanced things that would distinguish Apex
might be in there (but as to the whole story, I don't know).
* Excel files with Spanish: I think the best way is to save it as
HTML. Using CSV (comma separated values) would be more
efficient, but we may run into risk of wrong database
information; txt has problems, as formatting might be wrong; prn
would work, but the only hurdle would be using file extension
rename (which is one of the mistakes that cause problems for
beginners, I think).
* As for lists, even though if you hide it, Google and other
search engines are bound to find out. It is not the HumanWare
site which runs the list - the actual mailing list management
happens from a program called "Mailman." So what Blake is
suggesting is not really about HW site - it's about Mailman and
list interface (be careful with this).
* Battery gauge: From my tests, the higher battery reading is
sort of accurate. If you do 4-5-6 reset and find that the
battery level has changed, chances are that the one that shows
after the reset or whatever is the higher is correct.
* Wi-Fi: Just because a network does not does not mean that it's
the problem with the BN hardware; there could be other issues
with the network - and that's the case with majority of the
settings - a network which has a setting or two which the BN
Wi-Fi chip doesn't like. Try reconfiguring the network (use WPA
Personal mode) and see what happens. And to the person who asked
these questions: could you give your friend the address to this
list so that he or she may subscribe to it?
* Dean's newsletter: I'll put the subscription link (or a similar
intro link) on the PBWorks site as soon as possible.
I think that's all.
Cheers,
Joseph
