Please do let us know if you find the dot 8 solution to be reliable. I thought I had seen other people report the keyboard issue, and it seemed to me that they all used the Reset button to get back working again. The dot 8 while powering on is tons faster if it proves as reliable for others as it has for me.

The only option I knew about was pressing the reset button. I even asked for and got a new power supply from Humanware. With the newer power supply, the keyboard failure occurred less often than before, but still often enough to cause me to mistrust the Apex's behavior. It's pretty difficult to expect to use the Apex to begin a speech or lead a meeting only to find that the technology is not working as it should. Thanks for the info! I guess this tells me it isn't a universal issue. The trouble is that there are so many settings that can differ from one user to another. Heck, it could depend on whether you leave wireless turned on(which I don't) or have speech turned on (which, again, I don't). I pretty universally have a memory card inserted, and that could influence how the Apex comes up. Wish I could pin this down.
