It just drains your battery a bit faster. Wireless is not paid in
minutes used like a cell phone, it is generally paid monthly at a
fixed rate. Of course, your provider may have some special case where
you do pay for the time you spend online, but I have never heard of
this. Besides, if you are not going anywhere online, then there is no
traffic for the provider to register.
