I contacted Humanware concerning my braillenote. I have dot 1 that isn't
always working. It happens when you are writing Braille quickly. I average
probably 90 to 100 words a minute and had no problems until week before last.
When I contacted humanware I was given an rma number. The unit was picked up
and delivered to Humanware. I got a call today and was advised that they can't
get the key to not work so I would have to pay a $95.00 diagnostic charge. I
explained the problem again and was told that they would give the unit to
someone who used Braille on a daily basis to see if the problem could be
duplicated. This particularly upsetting for 2 reasons.
1. the unit is under warranty and should be free to repair.
2. some one just kept pressing dot 1 and that's it and noone opened the unit
to see if something was loose or cracked or something to make the key not work
all of the time.
I have a brailliant 80 that has a few cells that don't work. Wonder what the
fee to have this looked at will be. If this is the type of service you get
from humanware, I will have to find another company to buy from and hope that
their policies aren't the same.
