I disagree with your statement that you couldn't use the qwerty keyboard for
long stretches. I use my qwerty keyboard for long stretches and it works
fine except for the search-and-replace feature. The screenreader function
disappoints me because it's broken.
I would never give up reading braille nor would I consider replacing my Apex
with any PDA or cell phone for the sighted, no matter how many features they
offer. I tried using a Motorola Q with MobileSpeak Smartphone, and I found
it to be much harder to use and it ate up too much battery power. I was
never able to connect a braille display to it, either.
If you really want HumanWare to change, then post your message to them
directly. Write the company's president and tell him what you think.
