Hello listers,
Yesterday, I just finished writing a new web application. The media player on
our bn's doesn't yet have the ability to shuffle playlists, so I've made it
possible for us to do so.
I've had one person test it out, and he says it's a little complicated, but perhaps some people on the list might not have as much trouble with it. I tried to make it as easy as possible to quickly get a shuffled playlist, but it does involve
some... involvement... with both the program and the playlist you want to shuffle.
There are a couple of find and replace operations involved with the playlist file (necessary because of the way JavaScript interprets information) and some copying and pasting. It is also necessary to abandon keyword a couple of times to avoid
saving something in an altered state. The process isn't long or tedious, just more complicated than using a web form. Using a form for this program would have been just as tedious as manually typing a new playlist (especially for larger playlists).
With that said, the program works perfectly if things are done right. The
skills required are:
* Saving a file as a different filetype
* Changing the items in the "review the options" form
* Entering a backslash character
* Using the find and replace feature
* Using the block commands for copy and paste operations
* Making changes to, then abandoning a keyword document without saving changes
to it
* MOST ESSENTIAL OF ALL: Enabling JavaScript on an apex
* Loading an htm file into keyweb
Those of you unfamiliar with some or all of these should either read the manual
or ask other listers for help with them. That's what the list is here for, and
I think it has been a success so far.
Now that I've said all this, whoever wants a copy of the program please let me know, and I will send you a copy. When I was last active on this list, my bn bt was still running 7.2, so it was not possible for me to effectively use Gmail. Now I have
version 8 of keysoft, so keymail and keychat are both working beautifully. Thank you Josh and Alex for helping me with the chat client.
