Hi,
Not that often as braille cells. From what I heard and from my experiences, the first thing that'll wear out is the braille pins. Then, based on disk usage, Flash Disk chip, followed by keyboard covers. The thing about braille cells is that the pins are composed of a number of layers: the plastic pin cover, the crystals themselves and the motor underneath the pins.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] question about the thumb keys

Hi list,

Just curious to know if the thumb keys wear out and if any of you have needed to get them repaired. I'm getting used to them and I recall that when I had a Braille Lite 18 I needed to have the advance bar fixed, but it only happened once. Pretty good, considering I had that little device
for nearly ten years.

Mary
