Hi,
Alex's answers are right under the questions. I'll bring these questions up on the chat.
Cheers,

My responses are in the message below.

Hi list,

A collection of miscellaneous questions in regard to the
BrailleNote Apex ...

* Anyone know how to make keynote gold speech change speed
(mine's stuck at about rate 6 or something) in Spanish?
You can't. That bug has been around for years. Email hw about it;
maybe they'll actually fix something in the next release if they
see
enough interest.
* Can we make accented characters like a acute display correctly
in e-mails we want to send (as in, after they've been received
at
the other end)
I'm not sure why they wouldn't display correctly. Are you using
computer braille? Maybe try setting your code page to something
else
in utilities > miscellaneous options.
* Can we do factorials on the calculator (a quicker way than
going 1*2*3* ...30 or whatever)?
No, sorry.
* Is there a way to receive txt and brf files via e-mail with
the
single spaced non-indented new lines still there?
Txt files: I don't think so. Brf files, though, should not have
that
problem, though I have little experience emailing or receiving
brf
files.
* Anyone know what exactly the virtual memory free percentage
can
safely go down to before e-mails might or might not send?
I'm not sure it matters when sending messages, but bad things
generally happen around 2% if memory serves. Still, the apex does
not
run out of memory like the mPower does, or at least it shouldn't.
* Is there any particular reason we can't enter stuff in the
pronunciation dictionary that contains both alphabetical
characters and punctuation?
Yes, because hw has never added that ability. The pronunciation
dictionary has needed upgrading for a very long time -
punctuation,
numbers, regular expressions, spaces... currently, though, you
can
only add only punctuation or only a single word with no
punctuation.
* Does anyone know what to do when you click a link and the BN
says "cannot find file," - sometimes I press n and the link
works
as normal, other times I press n and the machine freezes and you
have to reset.
I'm not sure why that happens, and I have never found a way to
get
around it or reproduce it. Sorry.
* Anyone found a way to catch the BN cursor on e-mails (or
files)
as it skips ahead of the new line marker it was on while you
type? Specifically, is there some particular key stroke or
strokes that makes it do this? It's rather annoying when you
don't notice before it gets past the computer braille sign in
e-mails you're responding to ... so you're writing in Computer
Braille till you notice..
I find it to happen when I delete at the end of a line, so am
careful
when I do so. That is the only time I have found the cursor to
jump
like that. Incidentally, that's another bug hw hasn't bothered to
acknowledge, let alone fix, in the years since the apex came out.
Again, email them about it so they might do something.

Any feedback greatly appreciated!

Thank you and best wishes,

Aine Kelly-Costello

P.S. Sorry if someone has already answered any of these
questions on this list, I am new to it and the archives are
HUGE.
