Hello Fazil : You don't have to format the card but if for some reason files on the card go south, use your pc to format and if you are using XP or windows 2000, make sure you choose fat. In the list of format opptions, you'll see FAT, FAT32 or NTFS and you want to make sure to choose FAT.
