Hi Sharon, The ruggidized version has a detachable cable. The nonruggidized version has a cable that cannot be detached. I believe that the former is designed for portable use, and being able to detach the cable can better protect the connection between the cable and the card when the card is being stored for travel, etc. The nonruggidized version is better suited to a situation where the card is installed and connected most of the time.
