Hi Richard.
Maurice Sloane posted a detailed message to the list on this a couple of
months ago, but just to recap, we did some very extensive testing of
BrailleNote GPS with respect to the UK once we started receiving reports.
People were taken off other projects to look at this urgently, so we do
take the feedback seriously. What we found was that although some problems
exist, a number of these actually relate to the GPS package in general and
are not specific to the UK. In other cases we found that some of the routes
reported to us to be in error were in fact working as expected. It is
natural for lists like this to bring problems to our attention and we
always investigate them. But it is also true that BrailleNote GPS is
bringing a degree of independence to blind people not available before and
we get plenty of positive feedback on that. We're obviously keeping track
of issues reported by our UK and US customers for the next version. No
software will ever be perfect and there is lots we can do in future to fix
bugs and add enhancements, but our tests did not find any fundamental
flaws. One thing I am sure we will do for the next release is increase the
number of testers of BrailleNote GPS for the UK, so if you have an interest
in this, let me or Mike May know.
I appreciate your patience and as we've demonstrated with KeySoft, we're
committed to continuous improvement.
Cheers,
Jonathan Mosen
