Lisa, There are two ways you can try, I think. They both involve "refreshing" the display. I see you have your thumb key set customized to your liking, so I hope you know which one is the PREVIOUS, NEXT, BACK and ADVANCE thumb key. If you're not sure, then go into the Options Menu first (SPACE with O), then type B for the Braille Display Options, and SPACE through the items until you read, "Thumb-key set? custom set", and SPACE again through the next four items after that but slowly to see which key functions as what.
Now, if you know which key is which, go back to the e-mail that displays as uncontracted Braille, and press the NEXT and ADVANCE thumb keys together, about four times or until you see "preferred reading grade" for the second time, not the first time, OK? Alternatively, you can press the PREVIOUS and NEXT thumb keys together, about five times or until you see "automatic" for the second time, again not the first time. If this work-around doesn't fix the problem, post again.
