Hi Sarai and Rosie,
The scannar'r is for me a later version and smaller in size. I think the
Scannar'r is called The Poet Compact Scanner in New Zealand.
They are both scanners The reason why I had to get the Scannar'r is because I
could then transfer documents straight from being scanned into the braille
note. Had my 10 year old Kurzweil been able to do just that, I would not have
bought the Scannar'r.

Size wise, The scannar'r ist only a couple of inches high, and about 13 inches
wide and about 16 inches from front to back. My kurzweil which is also a
stand alone unit is somewhat bigger in comparison although that was small to
its predessor. I am short of space and the scannar'r suits my space allotment
much better.
If your Kurzweil meets your needs then stay with what you have and know. I
use my Scannar'r which has the Poet Compact installed within it, so that I can
scan my mail and as I am quite deaf I can get it on to the braille note and
read the braille display of same for myself.
hope this helps. Sylvia.
