Hi Jonathan, I would utilize a terminal emulator for, at least, the following applications: 1. Administration of firewalls, routers, servers, switches and other similar equipment that includes a serial console connection. 2. Connections to TNCs (terminal node controllers) and similar applications for packet radio and other control of radio equipment for data communications. 3. If sufficiently capable, establishing connections to *nix and other text-based systems using SSH or telnet.
