Hi. Amen and Amen! Let's get beyond some of the proprietary stuff; let's
document what data formats and structures are used; and let's get the SDK.
I still want to know how it is that the GPS software can fail to find any
points of interest within 20 miles, from a given address, and then find
lots of poi's when the address is changed to a location 100 feet away? I
gotta go to my neighbor's house in order to find restaurants in my area.
I have also had the GPS software create a very convoluted route, and after
moving the starting address by about 100 feet, been told, "Can not create
route." What's that all about???

Hi,
It has been stated previously by Jonathan that the provision of updated maps
for the GPS system is a time-consuming and, hence, costly process which
will, necessarily, result in a slow turnround. Therefore, how feasible
would it be for PDI to provide a utility wich would allow individuals to buy
off-the-shelf maps (obviously within prescribed parameters) and amend them
for use with the BrailleNote?
Obviously, if PDI don't feel totally proprietorial about the data format,
they could release details of this and, lo and behold, once the
much-heralded SDK comes along, this utility could be developed by a third
party!
Whatever the answer, I feel that some means needs to be found whereby
up-to-date maps can be incorporated quickly.
