Hello List,
I was wondering if it is necessary to have the cable that comes with the
Braille Note to use Microsoft Active Sync. I no longer have this cable, so
bought a null modem cable. Both ends are female, and have 9 pins each. They fit
fine into the correct ports on the PC and the Braille Note, but I can't get the
two devices connected to each other.
I'm not sure if the problem is the cable, or if it's something else, since
I haven't used Active Sync in about six months. I'm still running Keysoft 3.6,
which I realize is an older version, but it worked fine before. In any case, I
can't update until I get Active Sync to work since I initially purchased the
Braille Note, the power chord didn't come with the super disk drive, so I can't
use that. I have tried using Active Sync 3.7 instead of version 3.1, but that
didn't help. When I try to connect, the PC shows that it is checking Com1 and
USB, but it can't find the Braille Note's connection.
If anyone has any ideas about what the problem might be, I'd appreciate
your help. Also, if I do need a new cable from Pulsedata, how long does it
generally take to be delivered? I need it fairly urgently since I have to read
the books I have scanned for college, and can't use the DiskDrive.
Thanks in advance for any input,
Therese McCabe
P.S. Is it possible to connect the Braille Note to Active Sync using an
infrared port?
