Hi Riana,

There is a 48 MB RAM chip available, but the hardware upgrade gave you 32
MB, but only 16 MB is available for data storage. This is a doubling from
the old system board, as it only gave you 8 MB of data storage.

Subject: [Braillenote] 16 or 48 mb on flash disk

Dear List,

On perusing the specifications and features of the vn/bn on PDI's website
during June, before ordering my vn, one was led to believe that the older
versions had 16 mb, but the release with the second mother board and for
future purchases has 48 mb on the flash disk.

However, my order to PDI was placed on 27 June and I received my supposedly
new release on 18 July 2003.

I paid the maximum price, but when I got the know-how to check the size of
the flash disk, obtained from this list about a week ago, I had to establish
that I only had the 16 mb flash disk.

Has anyone else experienced this?

If there is a specific date from which the bigger flash disk memory was
automatically shipped, one wonders why it is/was not indicated and
reflected in the price, perhaps by way of a discount to the unfortunate
victims whom otherwise are made to pay the same price for old stock.

The flash disk memory size also becomes a relevant issue to everyone using
large files, as the bug relating thereto is apparently not present in units
with the 48 mb flash disk.

If this matter was, and perhaps still is, an honest oversight on PDI's side,
it should be addressed without delay, in the interest of both PDI and
relevant customers.

Disappointed

Riana
