Hey Lisa,
You're changing settings in the wrong place. I advise you change the
pudctuation level back to 2, or what you had it before changing it to 5,
because 5 will read and spell every word with spaces, and it will be really
irritating if you're reading a book or document with speech. You actually want
to go into the Keyboard Settings of the Options Menu. You will see an option
there that says "Keyboard Voice", and it's set by default to "words", which
doesn't speak the letters as you type them, and tells you the word you've typed
after you hit SPACE, as you well know. If you want to hear "space" announced,
you want this option set to "spell", which you do by pressing S at this setting
and then ENTER to accept the new value. FYI, you can also turn speech off from
this setting by pressing F, and you can have each letter typed spoken, and the
word spoken after you press SPACE, by pressing B for "both" (both meaning both
"words" and "spell". However, if you want to hear "space" when you hit the
SPACE key, you should set this option to "spell". HTH.
Maria
