Lisa, if you're seconding Jeff's comments, I'm thirding them if there is such
a word. I would really like to see better representation of all commands,
prompts,
etc., on the braille display. And, your comments about better braille support
for gps are very true. There are apparently occasions where the braille
display
will go blank after you set an address but a confirmation is spoken. This
should not be! Also, I would really like to see some indication on the braille
display
when you do a reset. If you can't hear them, the audible tones on the bn just
don't cut it, and since resetting is an important part of being able to use a
braille note over the long run, it really is important for all users to know
when the reset is, infact, beginning. Some people have trouble pushing in that
reset
button (which is okay actually since you wouldn't want to do it by accident),
but the press should be confirmed in braille. I'd think this could be done in
a
similar manner to how the bn indicates it when you attach or disconnedt the AC
adaptor.

It might at 5 or 10 seconds to the length of time needed for a reset, but that
would be a small price to pay for better access by many users who could really
use this confirmation.

I second Jeff's comments. I'm also deafblind and would love to have the
ability to use my BrailleNote as a TTY and face to face communications
device. PDI staff has told me that they plan to persue this further, but
that was 3 years ago. Perhaps someone from PDI could comment on *any*
developments that have been made so far (if any)?

I'd also like to have better access to spoken information that doesn't
automatically appear on the Braille display. There have been times
(especially while using GPS version 2) I've found myself waiting for the
Braille display to verify a command or prompt, only for me to later discover
that I had to press one of the thumb keys to read this information.

To end this post on a positive note, I'm really enjoying GPS 2! Although I
haven't had time to examine every aspect of the new version (I'm still
accustomed to version 1 <smile>), I'm really impressed with what I've seen
so far.
