Susie:

I assume you're in a Braille document. Yes, you are right. The option called
"Underline" isn't available in Braille documents, and neither is "Font";
however, you will see them in the Format Menu of text documents. Of course, in
QT models, there is no Format Menu, so you would just execute the necessary
command which would take you to one of the areas grouped under the Format Menu
for BT models; there are also shortcuts in the BT models to avoid going to the
Format Menu, and one of them must be used in Braille documents to access "Font"
because this option isn't directly grouped under the Format Menu which appears
in Braille documents. Although you won't see either "Underline" or "Font" in
the Format Menu in a Braille document, here's what you do:

1) Place your cursor at the start of the text which you wish to underline.

2) Press [ENTER with F] [CONTROL with T] You will be prompted "Font?"

3) Press U for Underline.

4) You will be told "Underline is off." Press N to turn it On. Although you
will not see the Format Indicator, it will look like the Computer Braille
dollar sign, dots 1-2-4-6, followed by the letters f s u. If you'd like to
check to make sure it's there, move your cursor back a character by pressing
[SPACE with dot 3] [READ with M or LEFT ARROW], and you should see this
indicator. Note that the cursor, dots 7 and 8, will be under each cell of this
Format Indicator.

5) Position your cursor at the end of the passage which you wish to underline.

6) Repeat the procedure for activating the Font prompt and activating the
Underline font. This time, however, you will be told that "Underline is on."
Press F to turn it off. The Format Indicator for Underline Off is the Computer
Braille dollar sign followed by the letters f e u. If you'd like to make sure
it's there, move your cursor back a character by using the commands listed in
Step 4, and you will see it with the Literary Braille cursor, dots 7 and 8,
under each cell of the indicator.

If you're typing text, and you decide to Underline, activate the Underline font
as described above, turn it On, type in the text you want Underlined, activate
the Underline font again, turn it Off, and continue typing if you have further
text you need to type which wouldn't be underlined.
