Hi Jeff,

Yes, this is an unusual oddity - well, another unusual oddity - in
KeyMail. The issue is that your email address and name associated with
your email are stored in the address list - the same database used to keep
your KeyList records. That name and email address will appear in your
outgoing email - that is, that address is sent to whatever SMTP server you
have selected for your current email session, both in the headers and in
the envelope (technical jargon, don't worry). By changing the directory
of services record you use to dial out and establish your email session,
you only choose which dialup number, servers and connection medium are
used; the email address appearing in your outgoing email remains the same.
The temporary solution, on your part, is to use the "Address List" option
from the KeyMail setup menu. Choose "Address list" as the address list
database filename, and type the name and email address you wish to put in
your outgoing email. Do that whenever you want to "Become" another being
for a time, as when you change servers and want to use the account
associated with that service. Strictly speaking, you could even use this
primitive technique to forge email and make it appear to come from
addresses other than yours, because the BrailleNote does make it somewhat
straightforward to do and most SMTP services won't bother to check the
sender envelope and header field mailbox specifications in your message
against the domains the server actually services. I'd hope you wouldn't,
though. Well, unless you have a cheating spouse or girlfriend, in which
case discretion is simply not an issue... <Grin>
For PulseData, the solution is very obvious - KeyMail must associate a
mailbox address and an outgoing free text personal name field with each
account, and those details are to be used when the "Identity" in question
is selected for use. for directory of services, adding the necessary
fields would serve this purpose exceptionally well.
Cheers,
Sabahattin
