HI Don, Well, I can tell you that when the batteries in the Sportrak are low, the unit emits a constant beep. When my unit arrived on Monday, the batteries that shipped with the unit were low, so I've had firsthand experience with this feature! Best Regards,

The two seem to have about the same degree of sensitivity and we tend to get pretty much the same readings when we're together and both running the gps. The Sportrak is supposed to be more accurate, but apparently you have to have a really good signal for this additional accuracy to kick in and it does so around half of the time. Otherwise, they're really very similar. I like the Sportrak for the battery compartment as you mentioned, and also for the smaller size. It's easier to get it into the accessory pouch and even with a bit of room to spare. I also like the fact that you have to press the enter button after turning the unit on which prevents accidently turning the receiver on. I believe the Sportrak is also supposed to put out an audible signal when the battery is low, but I can't hear it. That's me not it! <grin> We've thought about upgrading my wife's receiver, but after comparing the two, it really doesn't seem to be a big enough difference to warrant it unless hers dies.
