Hi Graham,
I'm going to forward two emails to the List which might help you. Both were
posted a while ago on this issue, one from me and one for Roselle. Note that
these posts apply to the User Guide which is accessed through the Options Menu.
That is, you look it up by pressing SPACE with O then U or ENTER with
BACKSPACE with H, and you look up topics through the Table of Contents or
Index. With the KeyWord Text documents in the Manual folder on the KeySoft
System Disk, these are system files which open at the top of the file no matter
what. This is permanently set in KeySoft 5. With 4.01 (and earlier versions,
I would assume, although I've never had the earlier versions), this would not
be the case. When you opened the files, you would be advised that "This is a
text document. Computer Braille is Required.", and the cursor would be at the
exact position where you left it off; if you put it in the middle of a word
even, for example, you would be brought to the beginning of the word. With
version 5, you won't be advised that it's a text document, and you'll be
brought to the top no matter what. I think this was done to help prevent
editing of the User Guide, as editing those files could cause problems when
trying to overwrite them by installing a newer version of KeySoft. Anyway,
these two emails that I'm going to forward apply to the User Guide accessed
through the Options Menu. Note that Roselle's post only applies to reading
with speech, and although mine can be used for both reading with the Braille
display and speech, Roselle's method is much faster with the speech. My
method's a little tedious because you have to keep sure you move the cursor to
your position every once in a while, but it's the only work-around that I've
found, and it works. Hope these three emails help you.
Maria

>My version of Keysoft 5 is the version burned into the board.
