Hi Diane,

See Ann's reply to you for suitable replies to your earlier questions.

No. The BrailleNote does not permit it. RFC2822 does say that a Subject
field is optional, so mandating it is technically wrong. However, as Ann
points out, it is a very good idea to provide one in any event. There are
cases, of course, where it is both unnecessary and, in some cases,
actually detrimental to do so. The most obvious case of this is server
software or email robots which carry out commands listed in a particular
format in your email and which are, for one reason or another, sensitive
to the presence of subject lines. A fine example of this seems to be our
mailing list service, Mailman, which actually drives this list. If you
provide something on the subject line, it must be a list server command;
providing nonsense often results in an unrecognised command error. On the
flip side, if you do provide a subject line to Mailman, you cannot then
continue your session in the message body. So, IMNSHO, PDI should make
leaving an empty Subject field an option.

> Can the entire List be browsed without entering specific fields

No. BrailleNote provides no way to group or sort messages by any
particular characteristic within any given folder, such as sender or
recipient. It provides no filter rules. Mail is shown in the Inbox as it
was fetched from your internet service provider, in ascending message
number order from left to right, so there is absolutely no correspondence
between the way mail is shown and the mailing list it was sent to. Your
only option, as you say, is to scan across the recipient field or subject
lines and infer that it is mailing list mail. Needless to say, both of
the above features are necessary for mailing list use. On the other hand,
this device is supposed to be portable - the ability to simply not
download mail with given characteristics from your provider's POP3
service, so as to not be bothered by mailing list mail, or the ability to
select messages to download before actually fetching them, is equally
missed. Both these features are supported by the POP3 protocol.

> Can signatures be created, stored automatically affixed to messages?

No. Your closest option is the block->insert file option, for bringing
the contents of a file into KeyWord while you edit your email message.
That file could contain signature lines, but the process is not automatic.

I'm not feeling very helpful here. :-(

Cheers,
