No you do not need a cell phone to do your e-mail; just a phone line access and plug the phone cord received with the braillenote into it and dial up your service (after configuring it in the options menu under e-mail.

I sure am glad I missed that e-mail about the paperweight. I love my BN. BY the way, Do I need a cell phone to be able to get e-mail on the BN. If so, I think I will stick with the computer at work. It would be nice to be able to transfer my e-mails and be able to read them at night. I get more e-mails than you can imagine. Terry Powers -----Original Message----- From: Terri Pannett [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, April 04, 2004 12:17 PM To: BrailleNote discussion list Subject: [Braillenote] appalled Dear Listers, I would like to mention I am appalled by the number of posts on this list discussing the BrailleNote versus the PacMate and the need for PDI to "pick up the pace." I received 117 messages and I would estimate three quarters of them were on this topic. Mos people were very polite, but some made insinuations about list members and PDI which were not called for. I am amazed PDI has been patient with us for so long! Come on, people! Give this topic a rest! This list is designed to discuss the BrailleNote, not the PacMate or any other product! We all agree the BN needs improvements, bu to send message after message discussing the PacMate is off topic. To criticize people who are moderate in their thinking by implying they are either, old, stubborn fanatics or stupid is insulting to say the least. If anyone is angry with PDI about their speed of improving the BN, they sould contact PDI directly off this list and get it off their chest face-to-face. This list is supposed to help new people to use the BN. How are thy going to be helped by all this bickering going on? I was also appalled because one person posted they were using their BN as a $5,00.00 paperweight. Just because your BN doesn't have all the latest motherboards doesn't make it useless! You can use it as a braille display for your PC, if for nothing else! If you _really don't have a use for your BN, why not sell it to someone who would be happy to have one and who wouldn't mind paying for the upgrade? To leave it sitting around gathering dust is a waste and a slap in the face to those who helped you buy it! To conclude, let's quit bickering and get back on the important topic of this list, the BN, before the moderators have to get on our case! Terri Pannett, Amateur Radio call sign KF6CA.
