Hi All,

Well, it has been a little while since I've posted to this list. And, for
the record and hoping it doesn't cause a problem here before I even buy
anything, I do use other devices that I like and plan to keep. However,
seeing as there are still some
things I am missing, and seeing as my finances are such that I can look at
making another purchase at this time , I do have some
questions about the BN.

First, thanks much for updating the web pages with prices
for the BN models. To have at least a kind of starting point for the price
is certainly helpful in ones planning. Now, along those same lines, if one
takes that base price, say the $4,095 for the BNBT model, other than
shipping, what else should one plan to purchase at the same time, and what
could maybe wait till a bit later? And, seeing as I didn't see any means of
doing so, I'm guessing there is no way to purchase online at this time?

Second, from listening to the recently made tutorial/getting started guide
for the BNBT, it was mentioned that one can use the BN in its case. Would
this be true whether a person was standing or sitting? I mean, for example,
I wouldn't hesitate at all to use my laptop in the case sitting down in a
seat on the bus; but, being afraid it would fall out of its case, I sure
wouldn't want to try standing at the bus stop and use it.

Third, seeing as I am more interested in purchasing the BNBT18, maybe my
next question would be best directed towards those users. Anyway, if I
understand things correctly, the BN is the same unit, no matter whether you
buy the 18 or 32 cell Braille display, it's just that the 32 cell display is
a bit longer, and of course gives one access to more Braille. But, grin, my
pocket book and my shoulder are both thinking I might be better off buying
the 18 cell, as I'm still wondering if my shoulder will ever be the same
after carrying my three to four pound laptop with me to and from work
everyday for
maybe six months or so.

Yes, as I did mention, I do indeed have a question about the 18 cell Braille
unit. So, let's see if I can make that question make sense. Again, if I
understand things correctly, on the BNBT18, the area just to the left and
right of the Braille cells is smooth, while the BNBT32 would have Braille
cells all the way across that area. So, when you are using your 18 cell
units, does that smooth space bother you, meaning is it kind of constantly
reminding you that there should be Braille there and that you should have
purchased the 32 cell display? Or, maybe I'm picturing this appearance in
the two units differently than it really is? But, either way, are you quite
happy with your choice,
and does say maybe the eleven ounces or so less in weight, or the $1,700
less in price, confirm that you have made the correct choice for yourself?
Although I would want the lighter unit, I would hate to get it and already
start regretting my choice. Hope that question made sense.

Fourth, regarding the BrailleNote GPS, and I do know that is an optional
feature for an additional price, does one have access to the other BN
functions wile using the GPS feature? Oh, I'm guessing one couldn't
hear/read
both at the same time, but could one switch directly from one application to
another without having to disconnect the GPS first?

And, fifth, and finally for now, seeing as I'm asking questions, anyway, I
have a Nokia 6340I cell phone that has a built in 9.6K modem. Would I need
to use that modem to connect with the BN, or would I be able to use the
faster 56K modem that the BN has?

Answers/opinions to any of these questions would be appreciated. Thanks.
