Lisa,
You have probably translated your file, which was already in keyword brf
format, to Braille files again by appending the brf extention, resulting
in gibberish.

Further to your thread about asking the questions over again, you aught
not to do so, especially relating to questions recently answered. That
way you will annoy members and clutter the list. At the end of every
message to this list, [including this one, at the bottom of your message
just after your name] you will find the web address for the archives.
Your present scenario is one of the reasons they are there for.

Roselle's method works and when you print your file for the first time,
you should not change the default extention. Afterwards, when you write
it out to a different file, which you should do, because you will lose
the contents of that file on the keysoft system disk when performing a
reset, then you can rename the file and translate it if necessary, but
not if it's already in Braille, off course.

Subject: [Braillenote] weird file problem any ideas thanks

Hello Listers,
A few days ago I went through the steps that Roselle sent to the list (a
long time ago to save emails that are in folders to files. Everything
went well until tonight. I opened my file where I saved my emails from
my Braillenote email folder. The information was go replaced with some
computer jiberish. So much for taking the time to save emails. I did a
reset just a regular reset without any keys held down and nothing
happened to fix the problem. All I can think is when I created the file
to save the emails in I put a brf extension on it not sure if that would
help but I guess that was a bad idea. I'm just mad because I thought
this was a good thing to do but now I'm worried the BN will just decide
to screw up my files whenever it feels like it. Any ideas on what
happened? I feel really bad because now I'm going to have to ask
questions over and over again because I don't have the information. I
didn't realize I had to back up files on the Bn every single day.
Thanks for your help and your time.
Lisa
