We know that the Braillenote family of products can dial-out, for it does so to connect us to our isp. Would it not be possible for this facility to be linked to the telephone numbers in the address book and thus giving us immediate dial-out on request for people whose number we have looked up. This facility would not I know be unique for I recollect it being available on a Braille input device available in the mid 1980s; I won't mention its name for fear of chastisement by the list moderator, but it too hailed from the antipodes.
