Hi Beth, It does contain American English, and I don't have the machine myself, and, after all, she is my X wife, so it's not like we see a lot of each other, but, all I can say is that she is very satisfied with it, and she loves the context sensative help. It has a built in floppy drive for saving of scanned documents, but I suggested to John at TVI that they might want to opt for a CD burner, considering that they have gotten so cheap, and if you scan a large book, you'll need to use multiple floppies.
