Hey Josh: If I understood your question, there are two kinds of USB ports available. Most of the computers up until a couple of years ago, were USB type 1.0. Now they have USB 2.0 which is reputed to be much faster. I think the card reader I have is a 2.0 and my PC and laptops all are 1.0. I think you can buy a board to insert into your PC to give you 2.0 connectivity, but I'm not sure how much speed you would gain since the bottle neck would probably come at the point of the data being transferred on and off the actual memory card.
