Stacey,
The only way I know of do to this is to press read with f again for the "search 
forward or back" prompt, and press b to choose back.  Then, when you press read 
with n, it will keep searching backwards instead of forwards.  I know, it takes 
a couple extra steps, but it's the only way I know.
