What Don said was a figure of speech, an image. He wants to take back his
message that he sent. He made a
mistake when he wrote it, and he wants to take it back. He can't.
The message was sent. Message like a kite. You send up a kite and it
flies high in the wind. If you pull on the string, you get kite back
to ground, you pick it up. Don's message is like kite without
string. He can not pull it down to ground again, it flies now. Can't
take back message.
String also is "text string" so he make funny joke too, a pun.
