Anita:

In these days of tight budgets and overloaded case loads, you will need to
do a bit of homework for the counselor. I was most successful in getting
equipment purchased for me by writing a justification memo. I know, I know,
you're doing the counselor's work for them. But, if they can then turn
around and put your memo or email into a justification on your particular
case, it just makes their job that much easier and you are more likely to
get the equipment.

You might include such areas as: 1> How the BN would improve your employment
or educational goals and Why any current equipment you have is outmoded or
not adequate for the task. Specifically you might point out the BN's
expandability, integration with current computer setups, portability, and
long battery life. I've just been digging through my files for my original
memo, but can't find it. But, I think you get the idea. Basically, give
the rehab professional ammunition to use in your behalf. Explain why they
should use their "Very limited" budget in your case.
