Actually, I think you can with JAWS - I've done it at my own risk. While
in terminal mode, press BackSpace+Enter+W on the BN and the
WordProcessor comes up. When you've finished, press BackSpace+Enter+T to
go back to terminal mode

You said a person could not go from terminal mode to the BN using JAWS?
Well, you can do it if you use WindowEyes!  When you get out of terminal
mode, the BN becomes a notetaker again and you can take notes with it.
Pressing t for the terminal mode will make it a braille display again.
