Hi all,
Yes, Robert, you are right. A BNS640 is good only for transferring
files to a DOS box, and/or printing directly to a Braille embosser.
It cannot retrieve email. It cannot interface with a network. It
will not except MSWord files. It cannot synchronize your calendar or
your addresses in Outlook. It cannot be used on a wireless LAn. It
cannot be used with USB or IR connections. It cannot be used to surf
the web. It cannot be used to download anything from the Internet.
It will not play MP3 files.
It works as a notetaker, nothing more. It probably has a stopwatch
and an address book, but you can't port that information to anywhere.
Anita, it's good if all you want to do is take notes and perhaps
braille them directly using a serial cable, but it can't do any of the
things that the BN or even the PacMate is known for. Actually, it
doesn't even give you reading support, it only gives you writing
support for your Braille. There's no Braille display with it.
