the keys are not in a straight line. they're in two half circles, but the dots 1 and 4 are in the same place. You'll just have to get used to the configuration. there's a speaker grill up there and they had to move some keys slightly forwards to accomodate this. Yes, the keys are much quieter. I just didn't like the way the keys are in those half circles. I think I am going to need to look at this unit again cause I am not sure about it. the main menu is pretty similar to the regular BrailleNote. First thing is the word processor and last is the information menu.
