Hi, everyone. This is a long message.
With 6.1.1, I no longer hang when downloading email. However, I still have noticed a consistent problem. I can usually download 300 or more messages pretty quickly. They come about every two to four seconds or so. However, once I get past the 300's, close to 400, things start slowing down. The more messages I try to get, the more dramatic the slow down until I am getting a message every minute or so. I usually just abort the process when things get so slow that I have no idea whether I have hung or it is just taking a very long time to get mail. If I read all of my email and clear out the trash, things go back to their normally fast pace for downloading email until we reach that magic near 400 messages again. I have 48 mb of flash disk space and have around 29 to 31 mb free. This depends on whether I have a bunch of email already downloaded or not. Even if I get the first 200 messages and log off then get the next 150 or so and log off, the next time I try for more, things slow down.
It is as if there were some sort of buffering or file swap problem.
Since I have more than enough flash memory, I wonder what is going on? I should be able to get 1000 messages or more without any problem. Any ideas? This really should be looked at and fixed by the development team. The amount of email one can receive should be proportionate to the amount of free memory that one has on their unit.
My system disk also has at least 6.9 to 7.1 mb of space.
Any ideas?
