Hi All,
I wrote this to my Rehab Councillor, in the hope that he will help me
get a Braille-Note with a perkins style keyboard and an eighteen cell
display, preferabley.

WHY A BRAILLE-NOTE WOULD BE HELPFUL

1. Keeping track of Doctor's Appointments.
2. Keeping recipes so i can cook.
3. Taking minutes in meetings.
4. Doing school presentations, so I can let other students know what
> technology is out there.
5. Using the calculator to keep track of my finances.
6. Being able to use the Internet independently to find things i need.
7. Being able to download books, so I can learn new things.
     A BNS doesn't have a Braille display. It doesn't do e-mail. If I
chose
to go into business for myself, I need to be able to do e-mail, as well as
the internet. The speech in the BNS is difficult, if I'm reading a
significant amount of information. With the Braille-note, I can download
whatever i need, and the braille with the crisp speechwill help me be more
independent. DSB won't have to hire anyone to teach me. You all can give me
a Braille reading test.
The best way for me to learn to read well, is to have access to
technology that will make me independent. If no one ever gives me a
chance,
how will I ever learn? How will I be a productive member of society, if
i'm
> never given the chance? I came up with these plans myself.
