Hi Chuck,

If your router offers DHCP, then using bnipconfig, you will have the BN IP 
address field blank and the "DHCP available" field checked.  Make 
absolutely sure that your pC address is filled in and that it is always 
accurate, as your PC will be providing WINS service.  Default gateway is, 
as you say, your router.  Make sure the "WINS" checkbox is off.  Reprogram 
your BN, do a softreset, change to ethernet, and try again to connect to 
ActiveSync on ethernet, which should of course be listening for 
connections.  Wait at least half a minute before assuming defeat.

Unrelated speculation: shouldn't "Ethernet" more accurately be called 
"TCP/IP" in the ActiveSync setup of the BrailleNote?
