No, your PC does not have to be wireless in order to communicate with your BN. Although I don't have 6.1 yet, I regularly transfer files between two PC on my network. One of the Pcs is wireless and the other is connected to the router via cable.

The two things that come to mind that have to happen on your PC are that the PC has to have file and printer sharing enabled and you have to specify which folders on your PC can be shared. Which version of Windows are you running? I might be able to remember how I enabled the sharing option.
