Hello Sarah: I have used my VoiceNote with both a sprint PCS and T-mobile cell phone. It's a great way to get connected almost anywhere you are including airports, in class, at a resteraunt or just about anywhere else. As an example, I'm typing this note to you while sitting out under a tree at a picnic table well away from anything resembling a connection of any kind. There are two ways you can connect; either via data cable connected between the serial port of your BrailleNote and the cell phone or via Infra Red. The Data cable is a much better way to go and once you've purchased your data ready phone, a simple search on Google or one of the internet search engines including the make and model of your phone should find a data cable in the accessories for that phone. I used a Sanyo SCP 4700 which has been replaced by the Sanyo SCP 4900 on Sprint. I am currently using a Nokia 6600 via infra red on T-mobile with mixed results. To get an infra red connection, the phone has to be in line of site of the BrailleNote and there doesn't appear to be a lot of tollerance for error here as far as aiming the two devices at just the right angle.
Some of your cellular carriers require an extra fee to allow you to connect via data over their networks. T-Mobile (my current carrier) does not, but you have to put up with slower data connections speeds. You will also need an account with an internet service provider like Earthlink that allows dial-up access. If you need help in getting this process set up, please don't hesitate to contact me on or off list. Good Luck Jeff [EMAIL PROTECTED]
