I switched recently from a Braillenote to a Pac Mate.
The reasons for my decision are not important here. I converted about
163 files from keyword to text using the wildcard * in file manager.
Because I have lost data permanently on three separate occasions, (three
times my Braillenote crashed and required repair) I never stored any
data on my flash disk. Therefore, I converted all of my files to .txt
and deleted the keyword versions of those files.
Again, it was easy since I knew I could not rely on the Braillenote
flash disk. Bitter experiences make one careful.

Subject: [Braillenote] BrailleNote and Pac Mate

I am needing to send my Bn Bt in for cleaning and a (hopefully) minor
repair. However, in my three jobs, I need a portable notetaker while
mine is away.

I am usually able to borrow a BrailleNote from a company through which I
do some contracting, but their machine is out on loan. They will loan a
Pac Mate to me, but I am wondering if the Pac Mate will read KeyWord
documents, or whether I will have to transfer all necessary files to
Microsoft Word or to text.

Any progress on the loaner program through PDI that was discussed a few
months ago?

Keith
