Actually, either mail.earthlink.net or pop.earthlink.net for the pop server or
mail.earthlink.net or smtp.earthlink.net for the smtp server will work.

When I had earthlink I started with the mail prefix for several years until I
had to go to the earthlink site to check the server names as I needed a server
with
authentication. That's when I switched to pop and smpt (actually smtpauth)
respectively.

Rhonda, you said you did an upgrade. Did you delete the dialup in connectivity
as well as the entry in directory of email accounts? Also, Maurice did
mention a fix where you delete the 0 entries for the dns servers and such so
the fields are totally empty.

Also, have you tried the browser and is it slow also?

How about trying a different access number just as a test.

5 minutes for six messages clearly indicates something somewhere is wrong.
